SAHS Email Brats assistance to Reunion Organizers

SAHS Email Brats will assist SAHS Brats of all years to have a reunion.  All the services are free, of course.  All we ask is that you make it easy on us, and that you encourage Brats to send us their email addresses and keep existing ones current. Please remember that all who work on the Email Brats page do so in their spare time and without compensation (and we do NOT accept donations, honoria etc.)

All requests for reunion services should be sent to Keith Hodges ’67 keith.hodges@comcast.com

1.  Email notices.  We used to have a cool Outlook Distribution List where we could send emails to targeted classes. It crashed and we don’t have the time to rebuild it.  But, you are welcome to copy and edit the email lists off the address page and make your own list. To make your own list, do this:

·   Copy the list into an open document, cut all the data except the addresses.

·   Separate each address with a semi-colon (maybe different punctuation in non-Microsoft email clients).

·   Save this document.

·   Copy the edited addresses into the BCC: (blind carbon copy) portion of the addressing block. (Don’t CC, or else people will “reply all” and fill everyone’s email boxes.)

·   Put yourself and planning partners in the TO: block (You must have at least one TO: address.)

·   If you have more than 25 addresses, you will have less trouble if you “clump” the addresses into blocks of 25.

2.  Publicizing your reunion – Options. All reunion links and announcements are either contained on, or linked off of, the Upcoming Reunions page http://www.khodges.com/brats/upcoming.htm. This page has a conspicuous link off the main Email Brats page at www.khodges.com/brats

          a. BEST OPTION (gives you complete control and flexibility). You or a computer savvy classmate designs and hosts a web page. I will post that your class is planning a reunion and provide the link to that page. This announcement never needs to be changed because any changes will be to YOUR web site that I link to.

          b. Reunion announcement on the Upcoming Reunions page.  Write the announcement exactly the way you want it to look.  The announcement  must include either an email point of contact or a web page.  You may change the announcement once per month – more frequently if really necessary.  At any time, you may have only one announcement, so if you have additional information, the notice should contain both the basic and the new information.  The announcement may be sent to me in HTML, Word, or RTF (Rich text Format.) If you see a goof or change, please do not tell me how to fix it.  Just send me ALL that you want the announcement to say, and I will cut all of the old announcement or stick in the new.

          c. I host your web page. If you design a page in HTML or Word, I will host it.  I will make changes to the page once every month – more frequently if really necessary.  Like the announcement, I will not add to an existing page, but replace an entire existing page with a new one.

Please respect that I cannot be the middleman between you and potential attendees.  I also do not know your plan, so I will not edit what you want to send or post.
