SCRIPTURAL EMPHASIS:  Ruth 4:14-15a The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a kinsman-redeemer.  May he become famous throughout Israel!  He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age.”

The Wrapping Party

OBJECTIVE:  Women can often get wrapped up in themselves: my gifts, my talents, my time, my family, etc.  When our focus is on “me” and “mine”, we lose the perspective that Christ has provided everything for us, including our gifts and talents.  We must come humbly to Him and sit at His feet to receive the full life He has for us.  At this retreat- through Bible study and activities- women can affirm that humility is the attitude Christ desires from them and they can humbly (re)commit themselves to Him.

SCRIPTURAL EMPHASIS: (keep this “under wraps” until explained in activities 1-3)

I Samuel 16:7 “...God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Psalm 51:17 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart.”

Proverbs 15:33 (Message) “Fear-of-God is a school in skilled living- first you learn humility, then you experience glory.”

Beautiful Feet

OBJECTIVE:  Women will be challenged to “put feet” to their faith and spread the good news by (1) studying people in the Bible who met Jesus and responded by telling others and (2) hearing testimonies of ladies in PWOC who responded to Jesus’ love by sharing the good news with others.

SCRIPTURAL EMPHASIS:  Is. 52:7 "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God Reigns!’”
